Gordon is re-elected Chairman of the Philippine Red Cross
Richard J. Gordon was re-elected Chairman of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)
by the majority of the 27 PRC Board of Governors who attended the first of its
monthly meeting 26 January this year at the PRC headquarters on Bonifacio Drive
in Manila. PRC has 30 board members all serving in a volunteer capacity for a
four year-term.

As tens of thousands of survivors in Mindanao enter their second month of
uncertainty, the Red Cross is announcing plans to drastically increase its
support to communities affected by December's Typhoon Washi.

change, public health emergencies, illnesses and other situations of violence
for affected families and communities within the next five years beginning this
year.

Red Cross acts on various disasters
While Red Cross is still in full swing in its relief and recovery efforts
for thousands of families affected by typhoon Sendong last December in Cagayan
de Oro and Iligan, it continues to respond as well to various disasters that
were hitting the country since the onset of the new year.
