Intermittent rains due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Kiko have battered the northern part of Luzon since last Thursday. The strong winds and heavy downpour have caused the eastern portion of the dike situated at Barangay San Juan, Botolan to erode leading to flooding in the area.. The flooding has affected a number of barangays in the vicinity of the dike: Carael, San Juan, Paudpod, Batonlapoc, Paco, San Miguel, Capayawan and Tampo.

Four (4) evacuation centers have already been identified to shelter evacuated families namely Botolan North Elementary School, Botolan South Elementary School, Botulan Gymnasium and Porac Elementary School.

To date, records from the Philippine National Red Cross Disaster Operation Center show that a total of 360 families have been affected by the rain and evacuated to the centers. The Zambales Disaster Response Team and PNRC Olongapo Chapter have joined forces in helping families attend to their needs.

Roads to Zambales were reported to be impassable by all types of vehicles early today.
