The Authority under which the Philippine National Red Cross assumes responsibility for the Social Services is provided for in the AFPR G 130-291. Military Welfare Service Units were established in all major commands of the AFP to include outlying installations to carry out a service program which included welfare assistance as well as recreation and rehabilitation.
In the reorganization plan of 1956, the Home Service and the Military Welfare Service which had operated as a separate service departments were merged. In 1978, the name was changed to Social Services to connote professional service offered to people
SoS Vision Social Service shall be one of the most responsive services of the PNRC which is concerned primarily with organized social service activities aimed to facilitate and strengthen basic relationship and the mutual adjustment between individual and their social environment for the good of the individual and of the society.
SoS Mission • We are committed to provide welfare services that are responsive to the changing needs of the people and deliver these services with quality genuine concern and with human touch • We shall continue to be a partner of the government in the delivery of services to the vulnerable and to complement each other in our areas of competence
