Works
He has led the PNRC volunteers in several rescue and
relief operations all over the country including the:
-1987 sinking of MV Asuncion where he helped rescue 55
people and even adopted an 11 year-old survivor, Lilibeth
Acar;
-1987 and 1989 Super typhoons and floods in Ormoc, Cebu,
Negros, Isabela, Pampanga, Bataan
-16 July 1990 Killerquake that hit Luzon Provinces and
the cities of Manila, Cabanatuan, Baguio, La Union, and
Pangasinan
-15 June 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption of the century of
where he led thousands of indigenous mountain dwellers to
safety
-1991 Bocaue Bulacan Pagoda Fluvial Parade Tragedy
-1993 and 2000 Mt. Mayon Volcanic eruptions
-May 1993 collapse of Guzman Tech Building in Manila
-1997 called for an Asian Disaster Training and Logistic
Center in Subic Freeport to help plan, prepare for and
mitigate calamities and disasters.
-1999 convened the first ASEAN Disaster Management
Workshop Seminar in Manila. Efforts are now underway for the
establishment of such regional center in Subic Freeport
-February 2000 launched the MILLENIUM PARTNER wherein
corporate donations sustain disaster relief and
rehabilitation efforts. To date, it now raised almost PhP 27
Million funds
-March 2000 successfully negotiated, without ransom, the
release of 18 Filipino hostages from the Abu Sayyaf in
Basilan
-Fires that razed the Philippine International Convention
Center and the Office of then Vice President Teofisto
Guingona in 2001 and the Manor Hotel in 2002
-Immediately flew to Palawan 28 May 2001 after Dos Palmas
kidnapping and on 4 March 2003 to Davao after the Davao
International Airport bombings.
