About
The Community Health and Nursing Services (CHNS) is
aware that more effort are still to be done to significantly
increase the scale and scope of its work in health care and
show the results and impact of its actions. With its mission

communities", CHNS continues to expand its service outlets
in accordance to the emerging and continuing health needs of
these most vulnerable population.
Profile
Training has always been an important function of an
organization. For this reason, the Community Health and
Nursing Services reaches out to its constituents through
basic health care by providing access of health services
among affected/ vulnerable groups by utilizing intensive
trainings as its main strategy in the implementation of its
community programs.
The Community Health and Nursing Services (CHNS) offers
training programs such as Basic Health Education Program and
the Primary Health Care (Community- Based Health Program).
We are offering these programs to equip knowledge and skills
among qualified trainees and volunteers to provide quality
health care among vulnerable communities. With our Basic
Health Education Program, we are providing specialized
training for professional nurses and student nurses. These
are Home Nursing (HN) and Disaster Nursing (DN). Our HN
graduates are sent to the field to help our chapters to
teach rural folks how to become nurses in their homes. Those
on DN help us look after the emergency health needs of
disaster victims. Both groups are volunteers of the Red
Cross.
We also cater to a wide range of community health needs.
Targeting vulnerable groups (e.g. children, women, elderly,
pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, handicapped) our key
strategy involves community-based skills training and
manpower mobilization. Through our Primary Health Care
Program, we are able to provide health care services to the
affected population making sure that they do not acquire any
disease and spread of disease is controlled and prevented.
Information dissemination campaigns are what we also give to
raise people's awareness and promote health and wellness. We
believe that empowering people with knowledge on how to
promote and prevent the occurrence of a disease will help
them to be self-reliant and able to manage their own health.
