Appeal for donations for the victims of Typhoon Pablo

The situation

As of December 17, the rains stopped and floods subsided in almost all of the areas devastated in Mindanao. But the ugly scene of destruction left less than 2 million people affected in 207 cities and municipalities with 3,277 injured, 648 dead and 569 still missing.

Just after the onslaught of typhoon Pablo, the Philippine Red Cross has immediately mobilized a total of 433 to date along with their equipment and resources and helped in search, rescue and retrieval operations saving 155 lives.

The PRC teams in evacuation centers are equally commendable in helping the evacuees by providing psychosocial support, administering first aid and feeding more than 16,000 affected people with hot meals.

Despite these efforts, more is needed to be done. Thousands of injured and sick are lining-up and waiting to be treated in the field. Thus, the Philippine Red Cross is setting up advanced medical post to facilitate immediate treatment to the injured and the sick.


The needs

The affected families are in dire need of food and water, non-food items such as sleeping mats, blankets, jerry cans, kitchen sets and temporary shelter materials. Philippine Red Cross also needs logistics support for its staff and volunteers on the ground.
