PRC mobilizes Red Cross 143 Volunteers in Southern Leyte landslide

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Southern Leyte Chapter mobilized its Red Cross 143 volunteers to give assistance and conduct assessment in a landslide incident in the municipality of St. Bernard, Southern Leyte.

At around 2:30 pm today, PRC Southern Leyte received a text from its Red Cross 143 volunteer Josefina Cinco that a landslide happened in St. Bernard affecting barangays Bolod-bolod, Tambis I, Tambis II, San Isidro, and Mahayahay.

Families were evacuated in four (4) evacuation centers, namely: St. Bernard Central School, ABC Hall, Municipal Gym and Baranggay New Guinsaugon Catholic Church.

In a report of PRC Southern Leyte Chapter, a total of 510 families were affected. Number of casualties and missing persons are not yet identified.

PRC Southern Leyte Chapter is currently conducting assessment on the basic needs of the affected families such as food, water and non-food items. Likewise, the chapter is continuously coordinating with the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) and the Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council (MDCC).
