PRC to distribute relief goods in Southern Leyte

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Southern Leyte Chapter is set to distribute relief items to families affected by a landslide that hit St. Bernard town in Southern Leyte yesterday.

According to the Operation Center report, two persons died from the incident while a three-year-old has gone missing.

Eight barangays were reported to be affected by the landslide brought by heavy rains that started in January 1. The affected barangays include Bolod-Bolod, Tambis 1, Tambis 2, San Isidro, Mahayahay, Himbangan, Sug-angon and Ayahag.

Some of the 287 affected families are temporarily staying in nine evacuation centers.

PRC Southern Leyte Chapter is currently conducting assessment on the basic needs of the affected families such as food, water and non-food items. In addition, the chapter is continuously coordinating with the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council (PDCC) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Team.
