The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) led by Chairman Richard Gordon kicked off the grant of emergency cash assistance to 2,821 Mayon-affected families on Friday at Sto. Domingo gymnasium in Albay.
The distribution of the cash assistance worth P3, 000.00 per family covered five barangays of Albay including Lidong, San Isidro, Fidel Surtida, San Fernando, and Sta. Misericordia.
Aside from the emergency cash assistance, the PRC continuously provide relief items, hot meals, medical and first aid services, water, and toilets to the affected communities of Mt. Mayon’s volcanic activity.
Together with Gordon are International Federation of Red Cross and Red Cross Societies’ Head of Delegation Chris Staines, Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara, Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office Department Head Dr. Cedric Daep, Sto. Domingo Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office Head Engr. Edgar Balitoy, Sto. Domingo Municipal Social Welfare Development Office Head Ma.Salome Villanueva, and other municipal counselors.
The Philippine Red Cross, as the foremost humanitarian organization in the country, has 103 chapters with two million volunteers nationwide that is always first, always ready, and alwaysthere to provide round-the- clock humanitarian assistance.
PRC services include disaster management, health, welfare, blood, volunteer service, and Red Cross youth.
